A small blow in the automotive world: MG, a former British manufacturer now under the auspices of the Chinese giant SAIC, has just announced the imminent arrival of a very serious rival of the famous Dacia Duster. Based on its development in France and relying on encouraging results (3,181 MG delivered since the beginning of the year, an increase of 135% compared to 2021), the manufacturer is trying to make an aggressive breakthrough by coming to offer a fully thermal supply. his best-selling IB.

Until now, the IB in France was only available in the PHEV version and especially in the EV version. He met with a great response in our region, because this electric SUV has been in the Top 10 registrations of electric cars since the beginning of the year. The test of the new version of the ZS EV II 70 kWh also convinced us of the efforts of the manufacturer, which ranks its SUVs among the most interesting offers of today in terms of price / performance.

MG’s desires do not end there. The manufacturer undoubtedly understood that purchasing power remained the main concern of households and that the breakthrough of electric cars, if it was obvious (10% of the registration market), was not enough to meet all needs at the moment.

This decision corresponds to the requirements of our customers, whose use profile does not correspond to electric mobility and want to benefit from the comfort, technology and seven-year warranty offered by MG. This international bestseller will allow us to respond quickly to the wishes of the French in the most dynamic segment: the urban SUV segment. Our ultimate goal remains the same: to offer all French motorists the most prudent choice on the market.“, Says Haojie Guo, Vice President of MG Motor France

The MG ZS series will start at € 16,990 in the Comfort version with a 1.5 VTI-Tech 106 petrol engine to the BVM (141 Nm at 4,500 rpm) and relatively complete basic equipment, including LED headlights, air conditioning, rear parking radars standing, el. heated exterior mirrors, cruise control, 17 ” rims and 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay / Android Auto.

For an additional € 2,000, the luxurious finish adds a 360 ° camera, heated and electrically adjustable front seats on the driver’s side, a 6 HP 3D sound system, a 7-inch digital speedometer, blind spot monitoring with a cross back traffic warning and leatherette upholstery.

Finally, a luxury version equipped with a 1.0-liter T-GDI petrol engine with 111 hp, higher torque (160 Nm from 1,800 to 4,700 rpm) is available for EUR 20,490. The 1.5-liter luxury equipment adds a panoramic sunroof, keyless access and starting, and a six-speed transmission. According to the manufacturer, the engines and gearboxes are of General Motors origin and were developed within the research and development of the SAIC Group, the parent company of MG. In addition, the cab is inspired by the ZS EV II design, while the 8 to 10-inch touch screen uses EHS hardware. It is true that we expected evolution at this level, but at the moment, the announcement of this IB, based on this basic price, is in itself good news.

It is already agreed that we will test this as soon as possible!
